Blaming the ‘Blue Tick’ for your lack of reach?
Content not being seen/engaged with? Well … it's not because you don't have the Blue Tick!
This week I have found myself having a few very interesting conversations - a few of which were based around how creators/businesses think their content isn't being seen by their audience simply because they're not paying for the blue tick (Meta Verified).
I hate to break this to you, but that's not why.
The real reason: You're Social Media Strategy isn't working for you!
Meta are testing out this new verification feature and simply because they have mentioned that you will have access to an ‘increased reach’, all of a sudden businesses and creators are thinking that's the reason for their content not being seen.
That's basically like saying “unless I pay for a gym membership, I'm NEVER going to get healthy” … and I hate to break it to you, but you don't need to go to a gym to get fit or healthy - you need consistency, self-control, determination and a PLAN!!
The exact same goes for social media - if your plan is outdated, not engaging with your ideal audience or doesn't speak to what your business offers, there's absolutely no way your content is going to be seen.
If you 'post and ghost' too (eg. not engaging with anyone on social media, only posting) your content won't be seen either.
Also (and I say this with love), if your content is just plain boring, it's not going to be seen either.
None of these are because you're not paying to be verified. Yes, there may be a little additional reach, but paying for Meta Verified isn't going to grow your account if your content doesn't already resonate with your audience.
